The frequency is the number of vibrations per second that are present in a sound. The faster the particles oscillate, the higher the frequency. The unit is Hertz (Hz). Sound events with a high frequency are perceived by the human ear as high tones, sound events with a low frequency as low tones. Sounds such as noise, road traffic, etc. usually contain a variety of frequencies. The unit of measurement of frequency is Hertz (Hz), 1 Hz = 1/s. Human speech ranges from 250 Hz to 2,000 Hz. The hearing range of humans is between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz.
A number of different measuring instruments are listed under Frequency Meters. In digital measurement technology, frequency is regarded as a very easy-to-measure quantity, as only its oscillations or pulses during a suitable time have to be counted, so that these measuring instruments are then called frequency counters.
